đ Autumn Adventures in Pre-School! đ
This morning, Pre-School had an amazing time exploring the great outdoors as we celebrated the wonders of Autumn!
We began with a lovely story read by Miss Easton, all about the changing seasons. The children were so engaged as we talked about how our environment transforms in Autumn — from cooler weather to the beautiful colours of falling leaves.
During our scavenger hunt, the children searched high and low for signs of the season. They were brilliant at spotting conkers, pine cones, crunchy leaves, and sticks. Everyone did such a fantastic job collecting autumnal treasures!
Back in our outdoor classroom, we used these natural materials to create some truly creative autumn portraits. The children’s imaginations really shone through, and the results were just wonderful.
To finish our morning, we went on a peaceful nature walk through the woods, taking in the crisp autumn air and colourful scenery — and of course, we ended with a yummy biscuit treat to keep our energy up!
What a brilliant morning full of learning, creativity, and fun!

On Wednesday the children had their outdoor learning where the theme "Water through Hoddlesden" brought learning to life in the most exciting way. It was a day full of discovery, creativity, and hands-on activities that tied together nature, science, and imagination. âŻOur adventure began with the enchanting story ofâŻLittle Raindrop. As we gathered together, we listened intently to how raindrops form in the clouds, fall to the earth, and travel through streams and rivers. The children loved hearing how Little Raindrop journeyed from the sky and made its way to the earth, teaching them about the water cycle in a fun and relatable way. The story sparked their curiosity, and we were all eager to see how it connected to the natural world around us. âŻAfter the story, we set off into the woods, excited to see nature’s own water cycle in action. As we walked deeper into the forest, we ventured down a slope to discover a beautiful, babbling stream! The children’s faces lit up with wonder as they saw the water flowing, a real-life version of everything we’d just talked about. âŻThe next part of our adventure was all about exploration. We dipped our hands into the stream, splashed around, and carefully placed sticks and leaves into the water to observe whether they floated or sank. âŻOn our way back from the stream, we had another important task: watering the beautiful wildflowers we’ve been nurturing. Each child had the chance to use a watering can, which they helped create earlier this week. The children were so proud of their creations, and it was lovely to see them so engaged as they watered the flowers in our garden and hanging baskets.

What a fantastic outdoor adventure the children had this morning! We walked into the woods to find a tiger who was very hungry!! We had to make some tiger food by finding things in the woods and mixing them together in the mud kitchen. We then went on an adventure to find the baby cubs! We walked through the mud, across stones and around the trees to find them holding a tub of marshmallows! We rescued the cubs and had to travel through a dark tunnel to get back to mummy tiger! What a fantastic afternoon the children have had at Pre-School with Louise from Wild Ones Adventure! They embarked on a thrilling 'Bear Hunt' journey, re-enacting parts of the beloved story. Equipped with binoculars, they eagerly scanned the surroundings, looking for bears and rescuing them from high trees. Their adventure continued as they bravely climbed over and under branches while traversing a steep hill. The excitement reached its peak when they discovered a river, splashing and sploshing their way through.
But wait, there's more! As if the day couldn't get any better, the children stumbled upon a dark cave, where they spotted a bear! Their courageous spirit led them back up the hill, where they took a well-deserved rest around a cozy fire. They toasted marshmallows and even crafted delicious chocolate biscuit sandwiches. What an incredible adventure for our Pre-schoolers!

The children walked into the woods to find it had been transformed into an amazing obstacle course! Louise linked this weeks learning of how to be an astronaut and fly up into space and to become an astronaut you have to be brave, clever and strong.
Louise also linked the childrenâs termly focus book, âThe Colour Monsterâ and the children re-called the colours and feelings throughout the adventure.
The children began at the obstacle course, to train to be an astronaut! They lifted heavy bags, climbed through ropes, and under tunnels. They they continued their adventure and climbed up a steep hill, discussing how they might be feeling âworriedâ. The children all climbed up using a rope and made it to the top of the hill! They then slid down the hill using a rope and landed safely at the bottom. At the end of the session the children made it back to the beginning to enjoy a well deserved drink and melted their marshmallows on the fire!
Well done Pre-school, a wonderful outdoor learning session! âď¸
