Reception school tours at Hoddlesden St Paul's CE Primary School
For those wanting to join our school family from September 2025, we are pleased to welcome prospective Reception parents to visit the school as we return to face-to-face tours.
We are hosting a number of sessions during the Autumn and Spring term and invite prospective parents to book a place for one of the dates below. Bookings open on Wednesday 4th September 2024 and will need booking via office@stpaulshoddlesden.blackburn.sch.uk. Please indicate if you wish to take part in the 10am or 1.30pm tour times.
Open Days
For in-year admissions, families are invited to visit us once a formal offer of a place has been made by the LA. Tours are not conducted at any other time of the Year.

Joining from another local school or moving into the area
We admit 30 children into each age group.
Some children join St. Paul's from other schools and this is known as an 'in-year' admissions.

In-year admissions are managed centrally by BWD Council and are based on the current admission criteria for community schools. Steps to joining St Paul's:
- Contact the school admissions team.
- Once you have been notified by the Council of a place at St. Paul's for your child(ren), make arrangements to visit us. Contact us at School by telephone to arrange a tour.
- A member of the Senior Leadership Team or Head teacher will meet you and your child(ren) to tour the school and answer any questions that you may have.

Summer Born Deferral Process
Parents / carers of Blackburn with Darwen (BwD) children must complete the Council’s In-Year Admission Form (IYAF) in order to apply for admission to any state-funded school within the boundary of BwD (apart from the school named above). The form is also available from:
- the Fair Access team: fair.access@blackburn.gov.uk
- the Place Planning and Admissions teams: admissions@blackburn.gov.uk
The completed In-Year Application form should then be submitted to the ‘Fair Access’ team.
The In-Year Admission form allows parents / carers to express up to three preferences in order of preference and to state reasons for the preferences.
The Local Authority may seek further information from your child’s current school and/or from agencies involved with your child.
If you are applying for a place at an aided (faith) school, please contact the school as you may also need to complete an additional form available from the school.
