Parliament Week 2018

UK Parliament Week 2018

We have had a fantastic UK Parliament Week learning all about politics and democracy.

We started the week with a whole school assembly where we discussed the meanings of the words parliament, politics and democracy. We held a fantasy election using film characters, footballers and popstars. We voted for our favourite candidate by listening to their pledges, Dumbledore was the winner!

In classes, we did lots of learning linking to UK Parliament Week over the week.

We discussed having a School Parliament and invited Year 5 and Year 6 children to run for School Parliament Leader. The children running for School Parliament Leader attended a pledge writing workshop, they then presented their pledge during a whole school worship. A ballot box and voting cards where given to everyone in school to vote for our new School Parliament Leaders.

On Friday afternoon we had a special visitor in school, our local MP Jake Berry. He answered lots of questions we had about his job and announced our School Parliament Leaders. Well done to Sam, Leah, Evie-Grace and Blu!

Start children off on the way they should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
